Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus - John Gray

Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus (published in May 1992) is a book by John Gray offering suggestions for improving heterosexual couples' relationships. The book is based on the idea that members of the two genders have diametrically different communication styles, emotional needs and personal values to each other and that heterosexual couples can use this model to improve their relationship. It spawned a series of follow-on books expanding on specific situations.

As indicated by the title, the book asserts the notion that women and men are as different as beings from different planets. Gray adopts this metaphor as the central theme of all his books and seminars, likening men and women to the classical Roman god Mars and goddess Venus as ideal types.
